Student Housing Redesign.

Birch + Dune Design Co. was brought in to stage and design multiple dorm housing options that felt more like home. The goal was to create spaces that were welcoming, functional, and inspiring for students—balancing practicality with a fresh, modern look. By incorporating durable, easy-to-maintain materials and layering in warm textures, color, and thoughtful details, we transformed standard dorm rooms into inviting living spaces where students can relax, connect, and thrive.

Comfort Meets Function.

We focused on creating a balance between comfort and durability—spaces that feel warm and inviting but can also stand up to daily student life. Each room was designed with a mix of timeless neutrals and modern accents, providing a clean backdrop that allows personality to shine through. The result is a cohesive, welcoming environment that encourages connection, rest, and creativity.

Designed to Feel Like Home.

Birch + Dune Design Co. reimagined these dorm spaces to feel less like a typical residence hall and more like a place students can truly call home. With careful attention to comfort, functionality, and style, we layered cozy textures, vibrant accents, and durable finishes to create rooms that are practical yet welcoming. The result is a thoughtfully designed environment where students can study, socialize, and unwind with ease.

Designing dorm-style housing comes with unique challenges: limited square footage, high-traffic use, and the need for flexible furnishings that serve multiple purposes. Every piece was chosen with intention to maximize function without sacrificing style. From versatile layouts to layered textures and finishes, the design proves that student housing can be both practical and beautifully designed.
